Yesterday was a stressful day of eating and shopping.
#1: Carlton Hotel. Fav tudi had made a reservation for 3 at the Wah Lok restaurant. I picked the place for its famous Hong Kong dim sum.
Awaiting the arrival of tudi and rae. They were late due to the torrential rain.
Check out the triangular pastry thing in the middle. That's one of their specialties - bbq pork (char siew) pastry puff. The honeydew soup with pork ribs was a killer too. First time I dined here was about 10 years ago. They have maintained the standard. Still as good.
#2: Robinsons at Raffles City. I went on a mad spree for bedsheets and bought 3 sets for my mum's bed, bro's bed and uncle's bed. Also went around trying out clothes and hunting for a pair of shoes for myself. While exploring the revamped basement food area, we decided on the destination for our next meet-up: Japanese Food Bazaar. It's a new Marche style eating place that looks like a mini Jap village. We went in and toured one round to recce all the yummy-looking Jap food.
#3: Marina Square. Had a regular very vanilla latte at Gloria Jeans and was 1. shocked by the price ($6.40!!!) 2. disappointed that it's not as good as those in Sydney. After wandering around the huge mall for about 2 hours, I finally bought a pair of shoes for CNY.
Check out this blue peg! The store auntie used this as the 'token' to recognise where we were seated so she could deliver the food to us. Strange. My first such encounter.
And she couldn't see us in the sea of people. What do you do then? Wave it high high! Or you don't get your food!
It was another of those eat-til-wanna-puke days....
