first taste of butter

I did a weekend pit stop in Singapore on a work trip to Hong Kong and Bro organised a party session for me. Thanks to my other Bro - that renowned One-Swipe-Die Bro - we all got into Butter Factory without much hassle or queueing.

We are a pair of cool siblings eh?

I had to borrow this dress from the Bro's GF as I did not pack any party gear for the short interlude.

How long has it been since One-Swipe-Die Bro appeared on my blog? And here you see him with one of his many gazillions 'girlfriends'.

Seeing how much I enjoyed wearing the Harry Potter glasses during our last KTV session, Mr ProTrim Steve brought along a pair of funky glasses this time as well and it became the accessory of the night as everyone fought to pose with it.

Here's a series of the Bro and the GF. Sweet as ever.

After two bottles of Hennesy courtesy of yours truly, these youngsters started doing weird things! Some of what you see in the below pics, I have no idea what was going on then.

Kenny the last person to arrive super late due to work ended up the most popular among the ladies. One of the pics below shows me almost devouring him LOL.

It was great fun thanks to these darlings who always make sure I am well entertained on my rare trips home. The only disappointment that night was Mr Tenant's absence. Despite the many apologies from him, I have to put it on record here that he owes me a mega KTV session for my next trip to make it up to me.

Cheers. When will the next session be?

highlights of my sg trip: spending time with mum

Besides singing and lancing with my bro, the best part of my recent trip to SG was spending quality time with the people I love and who love me too, in particular a handful of friends and Mum.

With Mum, I found myself spending more than 80% of my time back with her; we stayed home and watched TCS drama series together, we went furniture and CNY shopping, and we went for foot reflexology and facials together (see below pic).

I have never felt closer to her than now. Distance and absence do make the heart grow fonder.

This trip saw me spend thousands of dollars on Mum and the household after excluding what I spent on my own shopping. It was the most I have ever spent in a single trip home. I guess I was trying to make up for not being with my family through all the important occasions by getting them all that I think they will need for the next one year. I'm sure such material things are not much of a compensation at all for their lost time with me but that's the best I can do for now.

lancing in lunar

Besides singing, my Bro also took me lancing lancing two days early for New Year's countdown so as to avoid the crazy crowds and also such that his rather-deprived-of-clubbing-just-like-me-GF who was due to fly out of SG before NYE could join in the fun too.

It was by sheer convenience that we chose Lunar at Clarke Quay for the night but we ended up having lots of fun with a bunch of great party goers there. However, two extremely unpleasant incidents involving the club's management and staff took place that totally ruined the night for all of us and led to me having seriously unglam confrontations with them. I had in mind to write a long entry detailing the sequence of events showing how my Bro was given discriminatory treatment just because the Chief Bouncer didn't like his face but I shall save this for another day as this post was meant to document the happy times for future reminiscence.

No more words needed. The pictures show our joy clearly enough. I heart my Bro.

a mega sing song xmas eve

I changed my travel plans to spend Christmas and New Year in Singapore instead of waiting until end Jan to go home for CNY. Knowing how much I love to sing and how severely short of karaoke companions I have in Sydney, my bro organised a huge party at Party World, Liang Court for me so I could countdown to Christmas in great company while singing to my heart's content without getting stuck in the human and vehicular traffic in town.

With 18 attendees in our group, we took the largest room they had for a total price of $1066 that included 4 jugs of beer, 3 bottles of Martell, fruits, snacks, party packs, use of a full body OSIM massage chair and a pool table, and superb sound system that enhanced everyone's vocals such that we all sounded like we were performing at our own world tour concerts in a world class location.

This room could easily accommodate 50.

There were 4 huge LCD screens.

The pool table and massage chair.

With my beloved bro.

With the other man in my house who also happens to be my personal hairstylist back home.

Bro and his gf.

I borrowed this pair of lens-less Harry Potter specs from one of the boys and hogged it the entire night. I think I look so cute in it that I forced all my close friends to use this as my profile pic in their phone contacts LOL.

The sweetest thing happened when I started singing Warwick Avenue by Duffy. My personal hairstylist rounded up all the boys, handed them a noise making prop each, lined them up in front of the room facing me, and did an awesome fan dance for me. These guys synchronised their movements with one another and with the music so well it was impossible to believe they did it spontaneously. I kept shrieking into the microphone for one of the girls to video the whole dance but all anyone did was take a few pathetic shots such as the one below and so the coolest dance anyone has ever done for me can only be relived in my memories. They got their well deserved standing ovation at the end of the song.

And so we did the longest karaoke marathon I've ever done that night from 11pm to 6am, only getting home past 7am, making it one of the most memorable Christmas celebrations in my life.

monkey fairy

The tomboy monkey has blossomed into a feminine (and vain) young lady with fairy wings!

Check out her transformation over the years from 2006 to 2009 and compare the her then with the her now in 2010. She's really getting prettier and smarter by the day. I can see myself in her (that's like indirectly paying myself huge compliments LOL). I just hope she doesn't turn out to be like one of those skanky, detestable, anorexic, spoilt brats with an appalling sense of fashion that we now so often see walking the streets of SG.

One more photo to show you how beautiful she is. She's got perfect double eyelids with long curly eyelashes. I bet she'll be a super heartbreaker in future. The only thing she probably needs to work on is to pray hard for a set of neater teeth to replace those unbelievably crooked baby teeth!

the family's cny fashion

I kept to our family tradition of wearing red on the first day of CNY. Is this red enough?

Monkey cousin didn't have any red clothing and so had to make do with a cute cheongsam dress. She insisted on carrying that whatever-you-call-it-anime-character bag I found quite ugly looking.

I spent eight hours walking non-stop scouring the streets in town a day before CNY Eve trying to find a red shirt for Bro. Failed. So he ended up wearing a striped grey top. Sad. By the way, Bro was drinking a super chilled miniature can of Asahi, nice!

Bro's gf was wearing a red dress, but changed to a purple one just before we left the house because she felt weird walking around Mum and I who were both wearing shocking chilli red.

Uncle's shirt had stripes of a faint red colour and Mum was the only other ang pow besides myself. And this is introducing Kai Le (nicknamed Colour Pencil) who's the newest addition to Uncle's family. Mum is now half a grandma and is also helping to babysit Colour Pencil on workdays while his mother goes to work.

A bit disappointing that we didn't all go visiting as a red packet family unit. I am going to make it happen next year no matter what.

shinging and lancing

The young ones from home went out together one night for a karaoke marathon session that lasted close to seven hours. It was the most expensive KTV session I've ever gone to in my life. When the final bill of $520 was presented, our eyes nearly popped out. Blame it on all the extra public holiday and other what not sucharges and the many jugs of beer for the boys. The boys and I split the bill equally among the three of us to be fair to the youngest three ladies who didn't actually get many slots on the song list.

The night started off tame enough. See the first three pics below...

And then somehow, for whatever unknown reason, everyone stood up and started dancing. Merry who is the girl on the extreme right told me later it was because Bro was singing 我爱台妹. Err... =_=" I think I know of better songs to dance to...

Don't they all look so cute below?
