johannesburg: intercontinental hotel

We arrived at Joburg Airport at 2pm and were all checked in by 3pm for our flight departing at 6pm. With 3 hours to kill, and the guys nursing a massive headache from severe lack of sleep, we wanted to find a place to crash. We thought of having a discreet nap at the lobby lounge at Intercontinental Hotel that is just across the road from the airport. When we got there, we discovered we could actually freely access the spa and pool at the top floor and it was totally desserted compared to the very packed lounge on the ground floor.

So we relaxed for a good hour and a half by the pool watching the planes land and take off on the runway. Someone even sneaked a refreshing shower in the bathrooms meant for the spa customers.









We wouldn't even mind paying for a massage if we had more time. So now we know where to go if we have time to burn while waiting for a flight. There. That was our last memory of Joburg before we left on a jet plane.
